If you are just forming your own group, navigating the government red tape can be daunting.  The best advice is to remember that the government forms were created to give the government control over wealthy organizations.  If your organization is small and has little or no money, the government has absolutely no interest in what you do.  Fill out the forms properly and your tax-exempt corporate status will be rubber-stamped by the appropriate over-paid public servant.  None of us are lawyers and we managed to get through it.  That is to say that the documents you see above worked for us.
