DonationsAstronomy For Youth, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization. We fund this organizations with member dues and donations. Our tax exempt status means that donations are tax deductible for most individuals and corporations. Probably one of our biggest supporters is Kroger, through the Kroger Cares program. Kroger Cares cards are available at public star parties or by contacting the AFY Program Director. Our needs are modest, but it does take a certain amount of cash to keep things going. For instance, we have to purchase and maintain liability insurance in the event that someone is injured at a star party. The club also has purchased educational materials and telescopes that can be used by any member. Our 6" reflector and 12" Dobsonian telescopes are generally used at all public star parties. Other materials like a poster-sized moon map, a solar system model and samples of real meteors are part of the equipment commonly used in educational programs. Please visit us at any star party to discuss donations. Our treasurer is at most public events and can provide you with a receipt on the spot. Or, you can request donation information by email. |
